Austin DJs, take note – this is how a killer set starts.

Now, I have some awesome DJs on my list, but for the live music capital of the world, Austin has a sizable crap DJ population. Basically, most Austin “DJs” are showing up with an iBook, a playlist and hit shuffle to collect $50 and free drinks. Hint, hint – that’s not what a DJ is!

Keep in mind that I haven’t remixed, blended or remastered any of these songs and yet I could give lessons to Austin DJs in themed playlist creation.

This is a list with the boy theme – all the songs either have the word “boy” in them or somewhere in the song and all mix very easily with a mixer and some tables. Add in some new beats and industrial sounds and you’ll have a set that will have them dancing till they drop.

Austin DJs: listen and learn, that’s all I’m saying!
